How do i get rid of lice in my child's hair?

Two approaches: There are several over the counter lice shampoos on the market. These work in some cases but prescription products may also me needed in resistant cases. Using a stout vinegar (pickling or apple vinegar) as a thorough wash afterward can loosen the egg casings & permit easier removal with a nit comb. Re-treatment is often needed if any nits remain.
