Pregnant:11 wks: Progesterone is given to support the placenta in making progesterone after the ovary stops making it, if bleeding (brown discharge is old blood) occurs. Usually this stops the bleeding and the pregnancy continues. Your OB provider will explain the reason for taking the progesterone, so ask him/her.
