Visanne: Visanne in countries outside the USA is progesterone, which acts as an oral contraceptive, so if taken as prescribed, the risk of pregnancy is minimal. Missing the daily dose of "Visanne" may precipitate ovulation, and of course, pregnancy is possible, and might occur without having a period.

Visanne: Visanne is designed for the treatment of endometriosis and other indications. It is not approved for use a birth control method. According to the package insertion back up nonhormonal contraception such as condoms should be used. It is likely to stop ovulation in most women but is not indicated for birth control
