Dr. Kevin Yoo answered

It depends: What medications one needs after a stroke depends on how he got the stroke. He will likely need one or both types of medications. One is blood pressure medications as hypertension is believed to be one of the most important causes of strokes. Two, is medications to thin the blood as clotting is believed to be another reason for strokes. You need to discuss all this with his doctor.
