A member asked:

Is a rectal prolapse a common occurrence after a hysterectomy? being that i wad diagnosed with one, i've assumed the hysterectomy was to blame.

Rectal prolapse: Rectal prolapse is basically a failure of the supporting structures of the rectum. Chronic constipation, multiple childbirths, or strenuous exercise (running, weight lifting, etc.) can lead to rectal prolapse. A hysterectomy does not cause rectal prolapse.

Maybe not: Rectal prolapse can result from multiple vaginal births as the most common cause. Hysterectomy may only have exacerbated the preexisting problem.
