A member asked:

Can it be normal for moles to have dots or lines in them, which are darker than the mole itself (not black)? a few of my tiny moles have this.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: This is common. A few lucky folks get a nevus spilus -- an elliptical brown lesion with its long axis parallel to the dermatome and speckled with darker black dots. Irregular color is a warning sign of melanoma but you need to look for other signs as well. Glad you're vigilant.
