A member asked:

What causes the blood (menstruation) to stop flowing when you lie down but starts flowing immediately when you stand on your feet. the flow stopped for 8 hours, what could be the problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Menses "stopping": It may be a coincidence about menstruation "stopping" when "lying down", since "periods" are sustained bleeding episodes which only "stop and re-start" when bleeding is heavy enough to form clots, which may block the flow of blood temporarily by blocking the cervical canal until the clot is forced out into the vagina.
