A member asked:

I have pain in my throat neck chest and upper back that came on suddenly last night. the pain is aggravated when i swallow, tightness throughout ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

ER can check chest: A primary care doctor, or ENT or GI specialists if needed, can help figure out what is causing swallowing pain. Possible causes include nerve problems, tumors, infections, damage from acid reflux, esophagus malfunctions or spasms, eosinophilic esophagitis, etc... Normal swallowing is an automatic, smooth, painless event; so anything other than that should be examined. ER can evaluate chest pain.
