A member asked:

I have had burning nerve pain in my upper right back. drs think its shingles but i have had no rash. what else could it be? i have had for 7 weeks.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nerve pain: Burning pain can be neurogenic or myofascial in nature. Thoracic disc herniation is uncommon and often missed, but if present can be quite symptomatic. Myofascial pain can be vague and related to stress, injury, or fibromyalgia. Most back pain resolved in 6 weeks. So after 7 months an MRI and a doctor visit is in order.
