The Pill & Anxiety: The levels of estrogen and preogestin in a birth control pill get into your blood stream very quickly as soon as you take them. However, the levels of estrogen & progestin do fluctuate - they are highest right after you take the pill, and lowest right before you are about to take the next one. If you are looking for a steady state of hormone, an implant or nuvaring would be better.
