If the swelling is-: -in front and superficial to the patella, blood in the pre patellar bursa a good diagnosis. If there are abrasions on the area, watch for signs of infection. An eval by a fellowship trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon would be able to advise you on treatment options. This is an elbow but the appearance is very similar.
