Chronic inflammation could be due to autoimmune disease such as Wegener's granulomatosis, but it could be due to other causes. Blood tests are very helpful. The pathologist's report about the type of inflammation may also help. Not to be overlooked are the history and physical examination in determining what you have. Good for you for seeing a doctor about this.
