A member asked:

Why do i have post menopausal vulval itching even whilst on premarin cream? i have had the itching for many years and have used steroidal creams, fungicides and taken antibiotics. nothing relieves it

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lichen sclerosus: Your vulvar itching may be from something other than lack of estrogen from menopause. There are skin conditions that occur on the vulva, such as lichen sclerosus or lichen simplex chronicus, that can cause intense itching. These things usually need to be diagnosed with a biopsy. You may also need a yeast culture - It may be a strain of yeast that is not treated with typical medications.
