No Hep C: The EIA test for Hep C antibodies can be false positive - in some studies, a positive EIA (Enzyme immuno assay) test has a 7.5% chance of being falsely positive. The CMIA test (chemiluminescent micro particle immunoassay technique) result is definitive - if it is negative, that strongly supports no Hep C infection.

Consider PCR: If it were me and I had no history by which I might have gotten hepatitis C, I might recheck in a few years. If you’ve done drugs or had a lot of unprotected sex with folks who do, consider getting a viral assay by PCR / nuclei acid assay.
