Ovarian cysts: Yes, the pill can decrease formation of ovarian cysts. There are many different kinds of ovarian cysts - some are normal or "physioliogic" and some are abnormal or "pathologic". A pill can suppress the formation of physiologic cysts. These kinds of cysts don't usually need to be removed. Some types of cysts should be removed. Ovarian cysts don't usually cause weight gain.
