It's possible: A false negative test for Hepatitis C is possible. False negative occurs during what’s known as the “window period" which is the time after infection but before the immune system has developed antibodies. During this period, because there is no antibody to detect, the ELISA test will be negative. But an RNA test will identify the presence of the virus.
