A member asked:

My daughter is ok during the day, eats normal and plays, but at night she heats up and vomits, what could be the problem?

Fever/Vomiting in PM: So your daughter seems well during the day but at night she gets fever and vomits. Fever of 100.5 or more is usually from an infection & infection/fever may cause vomiting. Fever is much more common at night than day. She could have strep throat or urinary tract infection, for example. See your MD for diagnosis if these symptoms persist.

FUO?: Get a thermometer and take her temperature 3-4 times a day. She may be having intermittent fever. In parts of South Africa and depending on risks, common causes of fever of unknown origin (FUO) include malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV; and many other potentially serious but treatable problems. See doctor or clinic, whether or not she is having fevers. Good luck!
