A member asked:

Im anti-ro ssa positive, with a seemingly very high number but with few symptoms. does a higher value correlate with greater disease activity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ro antibody: Ro antibody is present in a number of autoimmune diseases and can be present in non-affected persons. The number does not correlate. Following the Ro number is not helpful. Ro (SSA) testing should be done if lupus or Sjögren's are suspected or if a woman has an autoimmune disease and wants to get pregnant. Having the Ro antibody predisposes the baby to congenital heart block and neonatal lupus.
