Wouldn't think so: In a 9 yo DM would be expected to come on like a storm. Eating & drinking but loosing 5-10 lb in a week before going into an obvious sickly state, possibly comatose. Ants in underwear suggests poor attention to personal hygiene or failure to change out dirty clothing. If you are concerned have her urine checked for excess sugar.
