A member asked:

Was at a bonfire with friends and now my eyes hurt a lot the next day, does the smoke and fire from that pose any dangerous risk to my eyes and health?

Should recover: Unless you were dangerously close to fire and smoke, the irritation to your eyes and respiratory tract should improve without any residual damage. Of course if eye discomfort, visual disturbance, severe cough or breathing issues continue, get examined by a physician.

Rinse eyes/saline: Rinse your nose and eyes with saline and watch for redness, vision change and discharge. Usually there is no complication from short term exposure. Watch for problems breathing, prolonged cough and wheezing.
