Yes: Secondhand smoke has been implicated in causing cancer in nonsmokers. This is the reason restaurants and other public places must label and screen off smoking areas if at all. Most hospitals are now smoke-free for all employees. Get your friend into a smoking cessations program. He has to want to do it, you are a good reason for him to try.
