Doubt this is mono: This is likely a lymph node reacting to bug bites or skin irritation on that leg. It could also be a testis in the canal or hernia. An exam would sort out what it is. Mono does occur in kids and is usually mild. It also has an incubation period of several weeks before symptoms arise.
