Mirena: The Mirena IUD is approved for use for 5 years for contraception. It dispenses hormones beyond 5 years but the efficacy for pregnancy prevention was not studied by the manufacturer beyond 5 years. I wouldnt recommend relying on Mirena beyond the package insert instructions for use.
