Mirena IUD: The Mirena IUD has implanted progesterone, which aids in birth control, but can influence the timing of your cycle. Ovulation is occasionally very irregular, leading to "lack of periods". Breast tenderness is also of course consistent with pregnancy, so obtain a serum HCG test to be certain. IUD's are not perfect birth control, and pregnancy may occur.
