I got a tear near the bottom of my vagina during sex. i was wondering if its okay to use an antibacterial cream to avoid infection while it heals.

Yes, but first...: Yes, the antibacterial cream would be helpful but first, wash the area gently with an anti-bacterial soap such as Phisoderm or Hibiclens then apply the cream. Remember to wipe from front to back after urination or defecation. abstain from sexual activities until completely healed, and see a GYN MD if it doesn't heal in 3 to 5 days.

Needs testing: Lumps, bumps, blisters and other skin abnormalities on the genitals need to be evaluated. Tears in the vagina can occur due to sex but this is actually not that common. When patients describe “tears” I often find genital herpes. An obgyn should examine the area and confirm that this is a tear or laceration and not something else
