Many possibilities: The first thing that comes to mind is an environmental allergy. House dust, tree pollens, grasses, etc. have seasons & flare. Some upper respiratory viruses can have signs linger for a month. Whooping cough is well known for a cough that lingers for 3 months but it is usually quite dramatic in a 2 yo. If the kid maintains his normal activities I would let it pass.
