Yes, definitely: Your doctor is being careful. Stopping Abilify all at once can have side effects due to withdrawal. At 5mg per day, the risk isn't great but this will still help modulate whatever unpleasant effects you could experience and if you are suddenly gaining weight with the addition of Abilify at age 53 then you are better off without it
