Have both: Great question. People with borderline personality (bpd) can suffer tremendously and cause the people around them to suffer as intensely. If that is happening, then the person with bpd really needs to get into treatment. A positive aspect is that the person with (treated) bpd has learned how to endure stress and often has healed from trauma. This resilience makes the person stronger in life.

Borderline : Intense fear of abandonment, being manipulative, impulsivity, a tendency to think of people and things in all good or all bad terms, self mutilating behaviors, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual impulsivity, a profoundly disturb sense of self, and extreme emotional volatility. I have never heard of any positive factors in this disorder.
