Breakthrough bleed: It is common to have spotting or bleeding in the middle of a cycle when on low dose birth control pills, especially if someone has just started. Keep a log of bleeding for a few months and see the prescribing doctor if bleeding continues or sooner if it becomes very heavy and prolonged
