Congestion: Sharp chest pain on taking a deep breath along with cough and congestion may be seen in pneumonia, pleurisy or, at times, with bronchitis. Associated fever, chills, sweats, shortness of breath and wheezing are worrisome symptoms which warrant an examination and chest xray. Milder chest soreness can occur from coughing a lot. See your physician if you have further concerns.
