Check strings: It is always a good idea to have your IUD checked after placement. You can actually do this your self. Feel for the strings in the back of the vagina. If you feel the string then the IUD is in place. If you can not feel the string have your doctor check. IUDs are very effective birth control options and Plan b is not needed
