A member asked:

A colleague of mine who i work close with, was diagnosed with hep a. should i also get tested? should i go for the vaccine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe. Maybe not.: Children in the US have been vaccinated for Hep A for about the past 20 years, and they are protected. If a person missed her vaccines, and never caught Hep A disease, she can get vaccinated and also ask her doctor if any other treatment is needed (depending on the closeness of the contact). If a person grew up in a developing country, she might have caught Hep A in childhood (can do blood test).
