Same: The same as a young person with diabetes. Most hospitals offer a free diabetic class. Attend one, it is well worth the time.

Protein & Nutrients!: American seniors are the population at greatest risk for protein calorie malnutrition and those with diabetes must avoid high glycemic processed foods loaded with sodium and trans fats. Poor dentition and fixed incomes can limit access to healthy selections as do inner city communities. Fish, nuts, berries, seeds, whole grains and healthy dairy can be delicious, nutritious and low in cost!
