Yes: Even though the ability to develop diabetes is genetically determined in most cases (family history, etc), it is possible to trigger a diabetes before it was "supposed" to occur by, for example, bingeing and gaining excessive weight. The disbalance between how much Insulin your pancreas can produce, and the body weight and food composition can create the disorder that diabetes is in essence.
