What is happening to your body during and after a miscarriage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fetal passage: The products of conception are passed through the cervix and out the vagina with cramping, bleeding, and sometimes pain. Elevated levels of hormones drop prior to and during the miscarriage including HCG. The uterus contracts back to pre pregnancy size over a few days/week and Mother Nature resumes the beginning of a new menstrual cycle if all the tissue has passed.
