"Piling on": Piles are also known as hemorrhoids which are dilated and possibly infected producing bleeding and pain during or after a bowel movement. They can be treated by a MD with a Rx that will help shrink and heal them. Straining at the stool worsens them and dietary fiber is also recommended to ease that issue.
