BV: IF this smells like 'fish' or locker room odor - then BV - and should be treated - as BV can theoretically cause preterm labor

Vaginal odor/preg: Most unpleasant vaginal odors are caused by infection, many of which are ""yeast" (fungal), but some bacterial infections can also occur. See your OB provider for an exam and testing before trying "over the counter" medications, which might not work and therefore delay appropriate treatment.

Bacterial vaginosis?: The main cause of strong vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of bacteria. The STD trichomonas causes the same odor, and other STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia) are more common in women with BV. BV can increase risk of premature labor and uterine infection after delivery. Efffective BV treatment (metronidazole) may be available OTC in S. Africa, but best to see your Ob for testing and Rx.
