I believe it is: fairly well accepted that water filters remove contaminants including biologic microbes/organisms. But understand, the water supply is also treated to mandated standards and is quite safe. It is possibly a slight bit safer if you filter it more yourself. It is virtually impossible to remove every microscopic particle but anything remaining won't harm you. Relax and enjoy your water:)
