Abortion/medical: Medical abortions can occur if medication is given early in a known pregnancy (usually 4-6 wks at most). These agents are misoprostol or methotrexate, neither of which is a "contraceptive", but either or both can interrupt an implanted pregnancy. If you are still having "brown discharge", get a serum HCG test to see if some placental tissue is still active. Or, see your gyn for an exam.
