A member asked:

I had scarlet fever and strep. had a shot and ten day script . i only took five days of script i am at risk for rheumatic fever?

Maybe: The antibody response responsible for rheumatic fever is cancelled out by effectively killing off the germ. If the shot was a long acting penicillin or the combined short/long that would cover 10 days rx and if it was given in enough quantity, you may be safe. Without the specifics, it is hard to comment. It takes 10 days of rx to eliminate the germ.
