Maybe not the cause: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold virus, influenza (Tamiflu may be needed), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, is with moderate or high fever, or with much coughing or worrisome symptoms. Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can lessen pain.

Possibly : Nasal issues like sinus problem could refer pain to throat as can issues in neck ear and also reflux. Or you may have tonsillitis. So need to have an examination of these areas by your GP to determine likely exact cause but yes it is possible
