Any cancer in lung: Any cancer that originates in the lung or spreads to lung from other organs can cause pleural effusion. Other than primary lung cancer, cancers from intestine, liver, adrenal, prostate, pancreas, stomach etc can all spread to the lungs.

Any: Any and every cancer is quite capable of doing this. All it needs to do is spread to the pleural surfaces, which many of them are prone to do, or compromise the blood flow through the lungs, which they can do either by their presence there or by remote effects. The vast majority of pleural effusions aren't due to tumor. If appropriate, get tissue; the pathologist can usually tell the origin.
