A member asked:

Can i get syphilis by holding hands with a person who has undergone the treatment for syphilis for the past year?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No risk: Treatment for syphilis is quite effective and usually by two weeks the organism is eliminated. Transmission requires intimate contact through mucus linings. Holding hands is sweet and will not transmit syphilis which I believe is not now present in this formerly infected person.
