A member asked:

Bp normally fine. in hospital for op. 180/70. gave me amlodipin 5 days ago. how long does the drug stay in system so i can check bp without the drug?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

10-12 days: Amlodipine has a half-life of about 1.5 to 2 days, meaning the amount of amlodipine in the body will drop by a half, after 1.5 to 2 days. One can estimate that the drug will be all gone after 10-12 days, but there may be little noticeable effect during the final few days when the amount of drug in the body is very small.
