Left sided pain: Left kidney or ureter pathology such as stones or infection may cause such pain radiating to the back . Other possibilities are musculoskeletal disorders involving the rib cage or vertebral spurs or disc pressing on a nerve root. If you note urinary symptoms it would point to the left kidney. Spine symptoms point to the other causes. See your MD if symptoms persist. Appropriate tests will be done.
