A member asked:

My wife is 12 weeks pregnant and we are going camping at blyde river canyon. should she take anti-malaria medication or is topical prophylaxis sufficient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Both could: have merit, depends on actual risk of location. Recommend asking your doctor to be sure. Topical is least risk to fetus and very safe. However, malaria in pregnancy is very bad for the fetus.
