Spotting: Spotting is one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test . There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Spotting/sex: Spotting after sex can be secondary to irritation of the cervix, which can have inflammation which causes such spotting , especially with vigorous or deep penetration. Sometimes estrogen drops a bit before the sudden drop with ovulation, which can also cause some of the lining to deteriorate and spotting will result. If it continues, see your gyn for an exam.
