Do menstrual cycles tend to shorten or lengthen with age, or does it depend on the individual?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Menstrual cycles: As a woman ages, the ovaries take more stimulation by the pituitary to produce an egg for fertilization. Typically a cycle can vary between 26 and 34 days in length and still be "normal". As a woman reaches 30 and above, PMS tends to be more severe, and so does the amount of bleeding if not on oral bc. Stress of any kind can delay menses, and cause irregularities in anyone.
