Increase: fluids, rest, and you could take some vitamin C but there's the old saying...if you take large amounts of Vitamin C the cold will last for seven days and if you do nothing it will last a week!......ZINC preparations seem to help (there are a number available over the counter) but remember the above "saying" BE Well! Is it only a cold??: People with mild cold symptoms, with or without mild fever, usually go to their neighborhood drug store and buy some tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin/advil for fever and aches. But sometimes, a person has strep throat or influenza, and not just a cold. With strep, antibiotics are needed. With influenza, tamiflu can be used if diagnosed early, and may decrease symptoms.
