Left side: Discomfort in the left upper abdomen could be from muscular strain or from an enlarged, inflamed spleen. Discomfort in the lower left abdomen may be from intestinal tract inflammation like diverticulitis or inflammatory bowel disease. If symptoms persist or worsen have a physician examine you.
